You’ve seen the rock-stacked trail markers throughout University of Utah Hospital, now it’s time to see where they lead.
University of Utah Health is pleased to introduce an easier way to navigate the medical campus’ often tricky floor plan. Watch the video below and learn how to navigate the new system.
The Basics of the New System
As the video suggests, when thinking about the new U of U Health wayfinding system, consider how you get around an airport. Similar to an airport’s concourse/gate configuration, each patient and visitor destination within the hospital will be assigned a three-digit address. This address is the foundation for the new wayfinding system and provides all information necessary to get patients, visitors, faculty and staff to their specific destination. For example, the Emergency Department’s address is B10, Surgery’s address is E16, and Labor & Delivery’s address is C21.
Once you know these three digits, you have everything you need to find your way. Understanding how the address system works is as easy as 1, 2, 3:
(1) AREA (2) LEVEL (3) SITE
For questions about the new wayfinding system, stop by any information desk in the hospital or ask a customer service representative.
